Cadenzer

Spend your time teaching, not chasing payments

Cadenzer is the lesson diary and payment tracker for working music teachers. Your calendar, your students, and who owes you — all in one calm place.

No card required · Cancel any time

Built by a gigging musician, shaped by a working session guitarist who teaches around 45 lessons a week.

Your week

The three things you do every week

Look at the diary. Check who's paid. Keep track of your students. Cadenzer does those well and stays out of your way for the rest.

A calendar that works like the one you know

Day, week and month views laid out the way you'd expect. Recurring lessons, rescheduling and cancellations are handled properly, and Cadenzer checks for clashes before it moves anything.

Know who owes you, at a glance

Payments are tracked lesson by lesson, so nothing slips through. Cash, bank transfer or a freebie — mark a lesson paid in a tap. Or add a Pay now link and students can pay by card straight from your reminder.

Students, instruments and notes in one place

A student can learn more than one instrument or style, and each lesson keeps its own notes, so you can read back what you covered before the next one.

In your hands

You stay in control of every reminder

Cadenzer shows you who is behind. You decide what happens next — so a reminder never goes out for a lesson that was already paid in cash.

  • Late payers appear in one clear list, with the amount owed.
  • Write the reminder in your own words, once, and reuse it.
  • Pick who to send to, or select everyone who's behind.
  • Add a Pay now link and your student can pay by card in a couple of taps, straight into your own Stripe account.
  • You are always in charge of what gets sent.

The details

Built around how teaching really works

The details that matter when you're teaching a full week.

Recurring lessons
Set a weekly slot once. Move the whole series in one go, or change a single lesson, and Cadenzer checks for clashes first.
In person or online
Each student has a default, and any single lesson can switch to online without touching the rest.
More than one instrument
Blues, rock and classical guitar are three strands for one student, each with its own lesson history.
Lesson notes
A quick note after each lesson, shown as a running history on the student's page. Only if you want them.
Students can book themselves
Invite a student to log in and they can book, reschedule or cancel without double-booking you. Don't send the invite and you keep full control.
Made for your phone
Designed for a small screen first, so checking the diary between lessons is quick. Nothing to install.

Switching

Bring your students with you

Already keeping your students in a spreadsheet or another app? You don't have to retype them.

  1. 1

    Upload your file

A CSV or Excel spreadsheet — from another app, or one you made yourself.

  2. 2

    Match your columns

Cadenzer guesses which column is which. You check it and adjust anything it got wrong.

  3. 3

    Fix anything it couldn't read

Rows with a problem come back in a file you can correct and re-upload. Nothing is silently dropped.

You can also export your students to a spreadsheet whenever you like.

The story

Why I built Cadenzer

I'm a gigging musician — lead singer and guitarist in a live band — and I've been writing software for over forty years. I wanted to build something that makes a music teacher's week a little easier.

So I started by listening. I read what teachers said about the tools they use, then spent time with a working session guitarist who teaches around 45 lessons a week, and built Cadenzer around what he actually does all day: look at the diary, teach, and make sure he's been paid.

It's friendly to use, works nicely on a phone, and does those few things well.
